Transponder

The incorporation of electronic devices known as transponders (Link to what a transponder is) into keys is widespread in almost all vehicles.

JMA has a Department of Electronics focused specifically on transponder technology that positions our company as a leader in this field.

Our authority in this area is the most advanced worldwide, JMA being the only company able to copy or clone encrypted transponders using self-developed transponders (Link to Special Transponders).

This new technology applied to copying equipment and keys themselves differentiates it from the rest, as JMA does not use batteries, external circuits or additional components that modify the standard configuration of the keys.

What is a transponder?

Transponder

A transponder is an electrical circuit fitted with an antenna and a memory where a code is written, which can be read or rewritten without the need for an electrical or mechanical contact. The applications that use transponder technology are numerous and we can highlight: Automotive, Access Control, Logistics, Animal Identification, Traceability of products, etc...

In the specific case of automobiles, the transponder is the device used for identification or acceptance of a key (1), which is fed directly from the antenna that is the starter motor (3), and which sends its code to the Immobilizer (2 ). This sends the valid code to the ECU (4) that manages the injection of the engine and starts it.

Transponder reading process

transponder reading process

The process of reading a transponder follows the following sequence:

The Clousor + Antenna (2), generate an electromagnetic field (3) every time the key is turned to position ON.

By introducing the Transponder (1) within the field, it creates a tension witch feeds the micro and the internal circuits of the transponder.

It is at this stage when the transponder emits the code stored on its memory (4).

If the transmitted code matches the one stored in the Immobilizer (5), the ignition of the engine is allowed.
